Over the past year Spain has erupted with a series of protests driven by soaring tourist numbers which residents say is putting a strain on their daily lives. However, demonstrators who would have hoped to deter holidaymakers have been left red-faced as Brits delcare “nothing is going our love affair” with Majorca.
Not even anti-tourism marches, sweeping regulations and increased hostility can stop Brits from holidays in one of their favourite holiday destinations with Majorca seeing an increased number of UK visitors in May. British tourism was up by 6% in May 2025 in the Balearics and 9% in Majorca, taking the number up to 310,000.
